Male detained after pursuit in Phelps County

At around 10:45 PM on Wednesday May 6, Phelps County Sheriff's Deputies observed a vehicle driving well over the posted 65 mph speed limit.


A deputy running traffic near Loomis clocked the vehicle at over 100 mph and notified a deputy that was located near Bertrand. 


The deputy near Bertrand observed the vehicle travelling at speeds of 132 mph in a 65 mph zone. The deputy pursued the vehicle through Bertrand. The driver of the vehicle fled on foot once he arrived at the Bertrand School. After a short foot pursuit, the driver of the vehicle was detained.


The suspect, a male in his 40s, has been detained by PCSO on an emergency protective custody hold, and will face additional charges at a later date.
