Late night robbery leads to multiple arrests

Kearney, Neb. — At 11:15 PM on Tuesday May 19, KPD was called to the Prairie View Apartments, according to a Kearney Police Department press release.
A male subject reported that another male threatened him with a handgun and stole his money.

At 1:00 AM on May 20, KPD officers located 21 year old Dayton Burton at the Super 8 Motel. He was arrested for robbery, use of a weapon to commit a felony, and conspiracy to commit a felony.
Through their investigation, Kearney Police determined that other subjects were involved in the planning of this robbery.
At 6:30 AM on May 20, the Emergency Services Unit served a search warrant at the Baymont Hotel. They located three subjects in the room.


Vincent Burns, aged 29, and Keegan Cumpston, aged 24, were arrested for robbery, use of a weapon to commit a felony, and conspiracy to commit a felony.

Shali Chavez, aged 31, was also located in the room and was arrested for possession of methamphetamine.
All four subjects are being housed at the Buffalo County Jail.
The investigation was headed by the Kearney Police Department with assistance from the Buffalo County Sheriff's Office and the Nebraska State Patrol.
