Kearney Man Arrested For Possession of Child Pornography

SEPTEMBER 5, 2021 (KEARNEY, NEB.) -- A Kearney man has been arrested after a report from a local mental health therapist.

According to an arrest affidavit, the therapist reported that a client of hers had initially stated that she had seen hundreds of suspected images of child pornography on the phone of a male acquaintance. She later advised the therapist that she had seen "hundreds" and "thousands" of suspected child pornography images on two Samsung cell phones owned by the suspect.

When contacted by an officer with the Kearney Police Department, the reporting party advised the same things that she had told the therapist, that the young girls were in various states of undress, and that she believed that the young girls ranged from 8-13 years old.

Officers then performed search warrants on devices owned by an individual named as Jeffrey Langenberg. Officers observed at least one child pornography image which was described as "a prepubescent female, with no breast development, in a bath tub, in a bubble bath, showing her bare chest, and showing her nipples." Police then stated that they also found "hundreds of other photographs of showing prepubescent females in various states of undress and provocative poses."

Langenberg was subsequently placed under arrest.

At this time, Langenberg has been charged with one count of Possession of Child Pornography, a Class 2A Felony.

If convicted of this charge, and he is not charged with any additional crimes, Langenberg faces a potential maximum sentence of 20 years imprisonment.

Langenberg remains in the Buffalo County Jail pending a $250,000/10% Bond.
